HOMETOWNS OF THE AMARAL CLAN IN AMERICA
México SAN SEBASTIAN DEL OESTE, JALISCO Migration routes of the Amarals from Mexico from the XVIII through the XIX century.
Antonio Amaral, the portuguese from Abrunhosa a Velha, Mangualde, Viseu, brought here as a prisoner by the Spanish to serve as superintendant in the mines, stablished in the old mining town of San Sebastian del Oeste circa 1716 and formed a mulato family (with a slave girl from Mozambique - under his care along with many other slaves - due to the fact that his Spanish captors kept all the portuguese prisoners from marrying Spanish ladies). From here, his descendants went to Mascota in a first trend at the end of the XVIII century and from there to Guadalajara to the East. Others went south, toward Talpa, Tenamaxtlan, Union de Tula, Autlan and El Grullo. Another group of descendants went westward toward Puerto Vallarta in the early XIX century, and from there, north, toward what is now the State of Nayarit, then to Sinaloa, Sonora and Alta and Baja California in the far northwest of Mexico. Alta California is now a part of the USA and as result, many AMARAL families from southern and southwestern United States have this very same origin as a trend of continuous migration and changing international borders.
